Huzzah! The Northern California Renaissance Faire returns to Casa de Fruta on weekends, September 13 through October 12. Heralded by the Travel Channel as one of the nation’s best renaissance festivals, the Faire features live jousting tournaments, swashbuckling swordfighters, magic, storytelling, and non-stop music and dancing. You’ll also find hand-crafted creations by master artisans, and of course lots of great food and drink. If you’re lucky, you might even get to meet Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth.
Coming in from out of town? Be sure to book a room at one of Gilroy’s fine innkeepers so you can stay and tarry a while after carousing at the Faire.
Several of Gilroy’s award-winning wineries offer special programs throughout the summer where you can enjoy live music, wine, and food in a gorgeous setting. Try the Sunset Music Series at Sarah’s Vineyard on Friday nights throughout the summer (last show is 9/26). Be sure to download our handy Wineries Map so you can plan your own tasting tour.
When temperatures rise, Gilroy Gardens’ Water Oasis Park is the coolest place to play. Kids of all ages can have splashy fun while also learning about the importance of water conservation. The water park will be open until September 28th.
Also visit Gilroy Garden's Pony Up! petting zoo to see goats, ducks, chickens, rabbits and pigs all sized just for the little ones. Though there is an additional charge for Petting Zoo, all proceeds go to Pony Up! for the care of the animals.
